In 2004 we spent two months travelling in Australia and New Zealand. During this time we realised what self-catering accommodation should look and feel like. In the UK, all too often, we were (and still are) disappointed with the poor quality that is on offer. Returning home, we resolved to recreate the best of the quality, attention to detail and customer focus which we found on our travels.
Throughout the design, the build and our future plans, we have tried to be as environmental and ethical as possible. So for example, the heat and hot water is provided by a ground heat source pump which uses renewable energy from the earth, much of the timber is either reclaimed or Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified from sustainable sources, the roof slates are salvaged from other demolished properties, and the log-burning stove uses wood from local sustainable sources.
